Mar 01, 2015. I don't know offhand why this is happening, but if you have to get thiis finished, You can make a copy (Image > Duplicate), flatten it and see if you have a RGB to CMYK option. You would want a flattened copy for printing. Also make an unflattened copy if you have to quit Photoshop and re-open to see if you get it back.
I'm told by my book publisher that my PFD contains 4 color black type. I've used "Convert Colors" option with the "Photoshop 5 default CMYK" selection for any object and color space. I've also opened the "Ink Manager" and checked the "Convert all Spots to Process" option. Then I chose the "Preserve Black" option.
