There is no need to fit EGR caps or EGR blanking plugs or EGR plates as it will be a waste of time and money. As you will still need to program the codes out in the Ecus software anyway after these EGR blank plugs have been fitted. So I would advise to program the EGR valve to stay closed correctly in the ECUs software at the time of the remap.
I have a BMW-specific fault code reader and I regularly get the following codes: 255C00 - EGR actuator position control valve too far open / negative control deviation; 272E00 - Exhaust-gas recirculation valve plausibility. Mechanically faulty near closed position; 272F00 - Exhaust-gas recirculation valve plausibility.
There is a global recall on EGR Valve Cooler, possibly related to the recent incidents in South Korea, where BMWs caught fire. Better check with your dealer. I recently received a letter stating BMW is extending the warranty on the EGR valve and EGR cooler to 10 years / 120k.
In my case, both the LP-EGR valve and the HP-EGR cooler bypass valve were not operational. When the LP-EGR actuator isn't operational, the LP-EGR valve position feedback sensor will complain, as well as the LP-EGR cooler temp sensors, eventually. I forget the code numbers. I would start with the HP-EGR cooler because it's easy. The coil return
It was fine for about a month until recently, possibly unrelated to the dashcam hardwire but I got the following codes: 4E0F - Swirl flap plausibility. 4CAE - EGR position controller, position sensor, signal. 4A66 - Power management, vehicle electrical system. Cleared them but now getting the following, including 4 new ones.
